Unrestricted parking with the Free Flow system
It is now very rare to see employees in parking lots issuing parking tickets for cars entering the lot. For many years now, the management of parking areas has become increasingly complex and automated. However, this does not mean more work for the organization or for drivers, but more and more simplification. It is now even possible to completely dispense with barriers or similar barriers without the need for additional personnel. Barrier-free parking works automatically, efficiently and reliably thanks to state-of-the-art technology.
How does barrier-free parking work?
The barriers previously installed at the entrances and exits are replaced by cameras for license plate recognition. The vehicle is registered each time it enters and the data is saved with a time stamp. The driver can then drive straight to a free parking space and go on their way. When picking up the car, it is no longer necessary to push a ticket into the machine. Instead, simply enter the license plate number in the field provided, pay the parking fee and drive out of the parking garage. As an alternative to cash, payment can also be made by debit or credit card and other contactless methods (e.g. PayPal). If you drive out of the unrestricted parking area without paying, you can also pay the costs incurred at a later date within a certain period of time if an agreement has been made. If this does not happen, the vehicle owner will be traced by means of license plate recognition and must pay the parking fee as well as any reminder costs incurred. Barrier-free parking therefore means a simplification of organization without making it easier for parking offenders.
What are the advantages of barrier-free parking?
- The flow of traffic is accelerated. Traffic jams no longer occur at the entrance and exit, especially in busy parking areas. This is because each vehicle saves a few seconds, which previously always added up to long queues of vehicles.
- Costs are reduced. Barriers are eliminated or do not even have to be purchased. Maintenance and repair costs are kept to a minimum with barrier-free parking.
- No more fear of lost tickets. Every driver has probably been desperate to find their parking ticket at some point. And not every ticket can be found again. In the worst case, you have to guiltily call a hotline to get your car out. With a barrier-free parking area, there's no need for any more beads of sweat to form on your forehead in this respect.
- Simplified payment methods. Barrier-free parking can be combined with the classic payment terminal in the parking garage. However, this system can also be used in completely new ways. In addition to the usual payment options via cash or debit or credit card, contactless options can be integrated into the system. Payment by app or invoice is also technically feasible.
- Parking without authorization can be identified. In non-public parking areas, the license plate numbers of the vehicles entering can be compared with the numbers stored in the system. If an unknown vehicle enters, the system notifies employees who can deal with the matter immediately.
- Long-term parked vehicles are recognized. If a car is parked for longer than permitted or expected, the system reacts in a pre-programmed way. Car owners can be identified and contacted via the relevant authorities.
