Solar Power and Free-Flow Parking: PRM Sets a New Standard for Modern Parking Solutions with the Konstanz Parking Garage

Since July 2, 2025, the multi-storey parking lot on Reichenaustraße in Constance has been available to all road users as part of the new mobility hub at the Europabrücke junction and forms an interface to the local public transport, car-sharing and bicycle services. "With the Europabrücke multi-storey parking lot, we are supporting a sustainable mobility service for Constance that is both efficient in operation and offers users convenience and flexibility," says Klaus Gumpp, Managing Director of PRM.

ParkraumManagement PRM GmbH has installed the state-of-the-art free-flow parking system for the new parking garage and is taking over operations for the owner. The new mobile heart of Constance offers a total of 750 car parking spaces on 17 mezzanines, including 80 public e-charging points, 8 car-sharing spaces and a bicycle parking garage for 124 bicycles.

License plate recognition instead of barriers

No barriers, no tickets, no waiting - thanks to the free-flow parking system, the entire parking process is contactless - from entry to payment. Users benefit from a smooth, convenient parking experience that saves time and makes it easier to find your way around. The modern system also ensures low maintenance, optimized processes and a high level of operational reliability.

Digital parking technology meets sustainable infrastructure

Another key feature of the new parking garage is the large-scale photovoltaic system on the roof, which is embedded in the sustainable overall concept of the project. The system generates a large proportion of the electricity required directly on site and thus enables the energy-efficient operation of the entire parking infrastructure - from the lighting and parking technology to the e-charging points.

Partnership for sustainable mobility in Constance

The new mobility service for Constance was made possible by the close cooperation between PRM and KMG Constance. The project is part of a networked mobility concept for the city on Lake Constance and is an example of the close cooperation between the city, utility companies and innovative technology partners.
