Sparkasse Meißen: Free parking spaces in front of the branch again at last
Bank branches are often located in the town center in order to be easily accessible for all citizens. This is no different in Radeburg, where the Sparkasse Meißen branch has a parking lot for those customers who live further away or are not good walkers. However, the central location made the small parking lot attractive for third-party parkers.
The Radeburg branch of Sparkasse Meißen is located directly on the southern corner of the market square, which is surrounded by many small stores. The Sparkasse therefore often had to contend with third-party parkers in its parking lot who wanted to run their errands in the nearby center of the small Saxon town. As a result, customers of the Sparkasse were often unable to find a parking space.
For this reason, Sparkasse Meißen decided to introduce a camera-based, automatic license plate recognition system for parking space monitoring in its small parking lot with ten normal parking spaces and one disabled parking space. Because even in such a small area, the use of digital parking space monitoring is worthwhile: on the one hand, automatic license plate recognition eliminates the costs for control personnel. Secondly, if a consultation appointment takes longer, the local branch can simply activate the customer's license plate for more parking time.
This is how the system works: two cameras scan the license plates of the cars as they enter and exit and determine the parking time. The maximum parking time is currently 30 minutes. Parking within the specified time is free of charge. Drivers are informed of the applicable conditions by clearly visible signage.
Positive feedback
And how did PRM's digital parking solution ultimately prove itself? "Some customers were a little skeptical at first, but as the parking situation has improved significantly, acceptance has increased rapidly," says Ines Bredow from Sparkasse Meißen. "PRM has proven to be an absolutely reliable partner that we would recommend at any time. Our contacts are competent and always available, so that our inquiries are answered quickly and we can solve any problems together immediately."
Conclusion: More customer convenience thanks to new system
Thanks to PRM's automatic license plate recognition, Sparkasse Meißen has quickly got to grips with the problem of constantly occupied parking spaces. The branch in Radeburg can now offer free parking spaces right outside the front door again, especially to its older customers who still visit the branch in person more frequently.
